Circular Economy

One of our Projects

Circular Economy

Impactive supported the establishment of Community Centres of Excellence (COEs) to incubate circular economy innovations in solid waste management across Unguja, Pemba, Tanga, and Bagamoyo. These centres also serve as training hubs for alternative technologies in the circular economy, including paving block production, composting, plastic-to-fuel initiatives, black soldier fly cultivation, and various other waste valorisation initiatives.

Through initiatives like the Blue Innovation Challenge and investment bootcamps, the project trained over 40 youth-led enterprises, created more than 1,070 jobs (59% for women), and introduced digital tools, behaviour change strategies, and peer-to-peer learning to enhance sustainable waste solutions.
