Blue Economy
In 2023 and 2024, Impactive Innovation Hub spearheaded the Blue Innovation Challenge in Zanzibar, a flagship initiative designed to harness youth-led creativity in solving coastal and marine challenges. The challenge attracted over 180 young innovators and students across both editions, who presented cutting-edge ideas in areas such as marine litter mapping, circular economy solutions, reef restoration, eco-tourism, and sustainable fisheries.
Through hands-on training, mentorship, and seed funding, participants developed practical prototypes and community-based initiatives aimed at protecting marine ecosystems and enhancing blue livelihoods. Building on its success, Impactive envisions scaling the initiative to other coastal regions in Tanzania, forging regional partnerships, and establishing a permanent Blue Innovation Lab to incubate ocean-positive ventures and policy solutions.
